Bringing Urban Resources to Rural Communities

Did you know? The rate of suicide among rural youth age 15-19 is 54% higher that of their urban counterparts and increased 74% over the past 12 years. Source: Rural Health Info

The Grace Loncar Foundation established Making Strides for Mental Health to bridge the gap between rural needs and urban resources. Our goal is to produce a first class event for competitors in the barrel racing industry while encouraging conversations about mental health and educating competitors and guests about the importance of caring for not only their bodies but also their minds and emotions.

Throughout the event, our Board Members and Supporters are available to answer questions and provide information about mental health resources available throughout North Texas. Making Strides celebrates North Texas rural communities and gives us an opportunity to distribute life-saving information about mental health hospitals, inpatient care facilities, parent/caregiver support groups, and mental health navigation lines in a safe and familiar environment.

The Third Annual Making Strides for Mental Health event will take place on November 2 – 3, 2024, at 4M Ranch in Decatur, Texas.

We are currently accepting sponsorship partners and silent auction items. If you are interested in joining us in our fight against suicide, please email us.

Competitor registration will open in October.
